  • Great Day this 081303

The update from here in sunny, humid Florida is that I took a road trip yesterday from Tallahassee to Daytona via I10, I295 and 95 down to LPGA Blvd area. We had to pick up a large quantity of radio equipment from a warehouse. On the way back we stopped in Marietta, FL to inventory some site equipment – we were finished by 2200 hrs so we decided to drive back to Tallahassee. Arrived back at the hotel about 0200 today.

The whole trip was interesting and a little expensive due to the fact we (meaning as team we must all accept the bad with the good, collectively speaking) drove the box truck into a tree limb and knocked a corner of the box and in the darkest, stormy of nights backed into the warehouse building upon return: Estimated damage $5K. Damn, and things were going so good too! Our collective asses have not been roasted yet so I do not know whether to cry or knash my teeth.

This morning I went to the warehouse and helped unload the truck. The good news is that the inventory was in great shape and did not shift at all (thanks to yours truely the LOADMASTER). The racks of equipment arrived intact too and we, Mike and I, got them unloaded (very, very heavy) without incident.

I am still incommunicado due to the fact I do not have a cell yet and I am driving my own vehicle. Hang with me a while – I’ll get settled in sooner or later.

  • Great Day in the Morning

After a hectic Fiday & driving from Indiana to Florida in 1 day (starting at 0500 and arriving Tallahassee at 2200), Saturday was fun. I did two caches with an associate from my old work place. The first was near a McDonalds and the second was deep in a Florida woods. The trip was 950.9 miles and could have been 3 miles shorter but I would not listen to my MS Streets & Trips software and followed the I65 signs in Nashville. Man, I love the GPS & Map software – no more being lost or the feeling of frustration with the obscure signage.

I ran into two people I knew so I won’t be lonesome here for a while. We are going get something to eat this evening so that should be fun. One of the guys went to the NW airport and they did have one hangar space available in an open sun shed like I had in Detroit. The price is even the same!

A beautiful airplane was destroyed in a crash near Yellowstone National Park. It was a one of a kind reporduction of the Hughes Racer H1H. More about this aircraft, its builder and the end can be found at the official site.

Flight planning features were added to the “Aviation” section of this site! Check it out here.

Do not forget the upcoming ICS convention in Tampa, FL starting the 9th of September. You can visit their site(s) by clicking here for one flavor and/or here for another flavor.
