Do you know how long it has been since I was on a real honest to goodness commercial airline? It has been years, probably more than 5, since I have had to travel that way! I love to fly and have piloted my way through most of the USA during the past couple of decades. Couple this with all the commercial flying I used to do for “the company” and I have a good portion of my life in the air.

The latest gig takes me to a place where I could take the general aviation path; however, commercial flying is cheaper by far so, reluctantly, I will do the route on Delta or ATA. The route is TPA (or PIE)-CVG-TOL and takes only about 4.5 hrs with transfer. However, I have to be there at least 1.5 hours before the flight so with the overhead it takes about the same time as if I piloted the Comanche.

Things have changed in the terminals with Sept 2001 events. Americans are no longer free to come and go as before so I guess the bad guys got what they wanted and we have the Home Land Defense group to watch over us and our actions. As old Clyde Shaw (one of my professors at Tri-State University) would say – How Poor! It seems like no one in Washington will rest easy until we become what we accused the USSR of being a decade or two ago. Enough of this ranting – I feel better already.
