This is a major vent -the first time AND PERHAPS THE LAST!
Posted on August 19th, 2004 No commentsI love these blogs (like in MooreWirelessNews) and I truly wish I had more time and energy to spend writing these small, insignificant editorials. General readership has been limited to a few dedicated souls numbering 40 or so (give me the kiss of death mr. google).
EDITED AND CENSORED.

New Pad for Dad
Posted on August 11th, 2004 No commentsCharlie went and did it! A home for him in Grand Rapids is in the cards – perhaps. Closing was this week and went fine and the move in date is scheduled for 1 September. Now we shall see how the remaining cards fall. It is always a challenge to know what to do but the feeling is that it is better to do something than to do nothing and wish you had. One more fork in the road passed and the sleep was sound last night.
I ate at a Italian Sports Bar last night and paid more for my meals than usual. However, the place had a “hotspot” and I wanted to try my new Dell Axim X30 on the wireless internet. Everything worked fine and I felt thrilled to use some features not encountered before: I tried to MSN my son in Texas as I saw he was online but no response came forth. Now I need a waterproof Bluetooth GPS unit and moving map software……….(more $$$).

Friday’s you have to love them!
Posted on August 6th, 2004 No commentsWhat a day! Beautiful crisp, clear and sunny day and couple that with the fact that I am working at home adds up to an exceptional day. Then the real treat occurred – I helped pack Jess for the trip back to Purdue. You cannot believe how much stuff we packed into that Saturn, a whole years worth and more. The whole years worth is necessary because we do not see her for the entire school year except for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter (sometimes). We have our orders to not show up without notice and to plan a month in advance for any telephone calls, trips down or IM chats. Again, I have to ask where did I go wrong, thinking of the glass half empty?
All kidding aside Jess is wonderful and a Junior year engineering student surpassing the senior engineer (that is me) with no problems. Then I look at the glass half full and say how lucky I am to have been a part of the growing up and life of Jess. I now sit here watching the sun go down and think how really fortunate I am. A life in need of nothing except a TRIP AROUND THE WORLD IN A WESTSAIL 32.
Can I wax philosophical? Of course I can since I am the author! I was in the air when 9/11 happened and was half way across Lake Michigan in a Cessna 310 twin. The whole world got real silent an I looked at my flying buddy Dwight and said “Dwight, it is really quiet on 122.8 that I had at subdued audio levels.” We discussed a lot of ideas very quickly since we were rapidly approaching a MOA that could be full of military equipment. Call the nearest “Class C” airspace was the answer and we did – Get your butts on the ground nearest appropriate airport immediately was the answer….From here on it is a loooong story for another day. Anyway, airspace got complicated, security got tighter and my buddy died so I have given up the air for the sea – and that is a subject of the continuing saga.
Thanks for all the readers who have cared to comment and those that just like to read.

Fortune Cookie 2
Posted on August 3rd, 2004 No commentsOn the way out from the Chinese I picked up another cookie. This one said “Security is in the offering.” I was somewhat reluctant to claim this one but I am not too sure why since I have been offering and offering with no success (:-)

Fortune Cookie
Posted on August 3rd, 2004 No commentsLast week I went to the Chinese in Farmington Hills. My fortune cookie said “Your principles mean more to you than money or success.” and from where I stand it must be true. If I had more money I would retire & if I had more success I would have retired. So, again, the fortune cookie is correct.
