Tuesday and counting down
Posted on March 29th, 2005 No commentsIt is Tuesday 30 March and I am counting down until I go on my home leave on “Aprils Fool” day. The warm California sun has been pretty cool since I have been here – like low 60′ day and low 50′s night. Plus about 50% rain for the last two weeks. I should not complain because last weekend was great.
Hristo and I drove down to Long Beach and saw the Queen Mary and then followed the Pacific Coast Highway (Hwy 1) down to Newport Beach. It was a good day. We stopped by a very large marina in between Long Beach and Huntington Beach – man what a lot of boats.
Sunday we drove to the mountains and that was fun. In between I found 4 caches nearby and attended Sunday 8AM services at Crystal Cathedral. Now if you want a real spectacular Sunday morning chucrch service this is a do not miss event. Try to get the balcony on the West end of the church.
Moore later………….

Where have I been?
Posted on March 20th, 2005 No commentsGood question – Where have I been? Since Florida I have been in Michigan working and weekends in Indiana. I ahve been busy and a little disintrested in most everything except enjoying the weekends. Maybe it is the older age and the radical change in my work structure – who knows, but here I am again. Now I am in California on a subcontracted temporary work assignment.
I spent the weekend geocaching and found another 13 but missed 2. One was a toughy and in the rain Saturday looking through vines in a wall. The other was today and it was on a trail that was full of multi-night campers (read homeless). I got freaked when I was almost on top of the cache and (1) did not want to give way the location and (2) did not want to show my fancy gps and camera. Instead I tried not to give the impression I was a “target”. All the same, I got out of there as soon as I could and as fast as I could. Urban caching is intimidating to me but you have to do something on the weekends
I made a pass at the Highway 1 from Newport to Huntington Beaches. Then I headed back to the hotel since the road was crowded. I did stop at one marine brokers place to see if they had any Tayana 37 or Cape Dory 36′s for sale. They did not. Well, maybe I can hook up with someone who wants to sail (:-). Later………..
