Friday after Thanksgiving
Posted on November 25th, 2005 No commentsA beautiful but cold Friday follows a blustery, cold and snowy Thanksgiving. The Ohio crew were here and so was the whole NE IN group. We had about a dozen or so and it was fun. SAM made lots of food and all the other households brought additional goodies. We gad a great time. After everyone had departed I went over to the Lee’s to help with his John Deere tractor project – snow plow season devices to be added to the tractor. I left about 1700hrs back to the homestead. I’ll try to post some of the pictures as a link later. (My old 3.2 Megapixel Cannon was taken over by J. and now I have a 7.1MP so I can get finer resolution and really zoom in)
Later in the evening I called Jane down in S Carolina just to see how things were going. They are a large collection of parents, grand parents and great grandparents. I understand that next summer Jim may be hosting the 4th again. Therefore, we must plan how to approach our own celebrations here.
I have been working on a new site to celebrate the name Charles W Moore. Last year I noticed that the URL was no taken so I rented the .com, .org, .us and .net extensions of charleswmoore freom GoDaddy. I had a pretty rapidly developed site just to occupy the domain name. Now is the time to go a little further so I spent some time to make it look a little better. I have asked my son, the real professional developer, to critique the site so I can make it look state-of-the-art and professional.
Today it is about 15 degrees outside and sunny. I think we will go Geocaching this afternoon and hit a couple of sites just for the exersize. I need to walk after the neck surgery as I have been a bit uncoordinated given the nerve situation and find it difficult to type too. So, exersize and more exersize, to try to get the nuerons back in track.
Love to all those in the world in need and especially to the Family. BFN…..

Saturday Night Live
Posted on November 19th, 2005 No commentsThe past couple of weeks have not been too kind for old Charlie. A herniated disc at location 6/7 has been given pain beyond belief in the right side. The doctors seem to take my pain in stride and it has taken two weeks to get an appointment where they will do “something” to the spine in the area affected. Meanwhile, I have been working at home as much as possible and sleeping on the couch (the solid back is something to lean against). The pain medication llows a few hours a night sleep and for this I am grateful.
Today we pretty much finished up the leaves for this year. Every weekend for the past months has been spent doing the clean up. This, in fact, is what triggered my neck problems. The leaf blower and the power vacuum helps a lot. Next weekend if there are no more leaves on the ground I will winterize the lawn tractor and the leaf vacuum by changing oil and putting stabilizer in the gasoline.
We will be having Thanksgiving again this year and we expect The Armeys and Dayton Moore’s to be here. The group is getting smaller each year from the peak of 35+ down to about half that amount. Of course, I cannot live with SAM for the few days leading up to the event as the is a lot to be done and few hands to do it. However, we manage and later enjoy the memories.
Thanks to all for everything.

People Ask – Why did you quit flying? Here is one major reason
Posted on November 3rd, 2005 No comments……….THERE IS TOO MUCH BS TODAY – WE HAVE MET THE ENEMY AND THEY IS US………
TSA CLOSES D.C.-AREA AIRPORT…
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) on Tuesday informed Potomac Airfield — one of three small GA airports in the Washington area that operate under special post-9/11 security regulations — that its security program has been suspended, effectively closing down operations. “The airport was told it is not in compliance with its approved security plan,” TSA spokesman Darrin Kayser told AVweb yesterday. “We had told them they were not meeting certain criteria, and then did a spot check over the weekend, and found they are still not in compliance.” Exactly what those measures are that were supposed to be followed, or what the transgressions were, the TSA will not discuss. More……AIRFIELD OWNER DEFIANT…
David Wartofsky, owner of Potomac Airfield, told AVweb yesterday that he is working to get the situation rectified. He says the security procedures he has put into place at Potomac are not exactly those prescribed by the TSA plan, but in fact are enhanced. “It’s like if they told you to use 25-watt light bulbs and instead I put in 100 watts,” he said. “It’s not what is in the plan, but it meets and exceeds what is in the plan.” He also said that he’s been caught in a Catch-22 because the TSA says the only approved procedures are the ones they sign off on, but then the agency won’t sign off on any of his requests for revisions to enhance the procedures. Wartofsky added that he is working through the White House and Congress to try to get clarification of whether the TSA has the authority to dictate to him what is acceptable for what he says is a “private security plan” that he has implemented in addition to the plan required by the TSA. More……AND 90 AIRPLANES GROUNDED
About 90 airplanes are on the ground at the airport and about 400 pilots have passed the necessary security procedures to operate there. A plan is in place to allow those airplanes to be flown off the field tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday. (Hopefully, nobody had other plans.) Wartofsky said he is hopeful that a mutually agreeable solution to the problem can be reached soon and the airport will be back in operation. “The agency will continue to work with the Potomac Airfield staff on the issues surrounding the suspension,” the TSA said in its news release. Pilots in need of more information from the TSA regarding Potomac Airfield, including aircraft relocation plans, should contact TSA program manager Dirk Ahle at (571) 227-1898.
