{"id":27,"date":"2007-12-03T21:07:45","date_gmt":"2007-12-04T02:07:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/d1028669.domain.com\/charleswmoore\/?p=27"},"modified":"2007-12-03T21:07:45","modified_gmt":"2007-12-04T02:07:45","slug":"slow-drive-in-good-meal-new-ap-a-joke","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.charleswmoore.org\/wordpress\/index.php\/2007\/12\/03\/slow-drive-in-good-meal-new-ap-a-joke\/","title":{"rendered":"Slow Drive In , Good Meal, New AP &#038; a joke"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The drive in this AM took close to 3 hours due to intermittant icy roads.\u00a0 I made it about half an hour later than usual.<\/p>\n<p>The regualr fish oriented meal at Braun&#8217;s tonight was good as usual and the waitress was the normal one Andy &amp; I use when he comes to town.\u00a0 Total cost including tip $8.25.<\/p>\n<p>I bought a new wireless interconnect device.\u00a0 It is a DLink DWL-G730AP.\u00a0 It is a three function device that can act as an Access Point mode, Client mode and Router mode.\u00a0 I thought it would be pretty cool.\u00a0 It does work in client mode OK but what a pain in the rear end to configure.\u00a0 First you have to change TCP\/IP from DHCP to a fixed class C IP.\u00a0 Second you have to configure the Client mode to search for available wireless points and then third you have to go back to DHCP.\u00a0 It is much more difficult than a wireless card.<\/p>\n<p>If you read this far then here is a funny &#8211; <em>UNDERSTANDING ENGINEERS &#8211; TAKE TWO<br \/>\nTo the optimist, the glass is half full.<br \/>\nTo the pessimist, the glass is half empty.<br \/>\nTo the engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.<br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The drive in this AM took close to 3 hours due to intermittant icy roads.\u00a0 I made it about half an hour later than usual.
