He came upon an old man planting a carob tree.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ui_qtext_para\">\u201cHow long does a carob tree take to produce fruit?\u201d Honi asked.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ui_qtext_para\">\u201cSeventy years,\u201d the old man replied.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ui_qtext_para\">\u201cYou idiot!\u201d cried Honi. \u201cWhy are you wasting your time planting a tree whose fruit you will never see?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"ui_qtext_para\">\u201cWhen I was born,\u201d replied the old man, \u201cthe world was full of carob trees, planted by the people who came before me.
