{"id":3345,"date":"2018-04-04T07:14:11","date_gmt":"2018-04-04T12:14:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.charleswmoore.org\/wordpress\/?p=3345"},"modified":"2018-04-04T07:14:39","modified_gmt":"2018-04-04T12:14:39","slug":"4-april-2018-whit-springs-saga","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.charleswmoore.org\/wordpress\/index.php\/2018\/04\/04\/4-april-2018-whit-springs-saga\/","title":{"rendered":"4 April 2018: White Springs Saga"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Since the last post we have moved the 100 miles or so to White Springs RV Park in White Springs, FL.\u00a0 This little town with little infrastructure to support it is home to the Steven Foster Cultural Museum.\u00a0 That is the first place we went on arrival and have been many places since we rolled into village on the 24th of March.\u00a0 Today, we will wash clothes in the village and prepare for our departure tomorrow AM heading for Highland Falls, GA.<\/p>\n<p>We have had an active daily schedule of sightseeing.\u00a0 Most of this involved a trek of &lt;40 miles.\u00a0 First came the Blue Springs then Falmouth Springs and the next day Peacock Springs.\u00a0 Finally, some days later it was on to Ichetucknee Springs.\u00a0 If I had to rate these springs for my preferences it would be as follows:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>\u00a0Ichetucknee<\/li>\n<li>Blue<\/li>\n<li>Falmouth<\/li>\n<li>Peacock<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Peacock is last because it was totally covered with green algae, only disturbed by the three scuba divers 30&#8242; down on the bottom; otherwise, I would rate it number 2 and is a deep, roundish pool.\u00a0 Blue Springs pool is very near to the Suwanee\u00a0 River and, in fact, has a large opening into the river.\u00a0 Falmouth appears and then disappears in about 300&#8242; but could be considered a wading pool.\u00a0 Ichetucknee has two different attractions &#8211; the headwaters and big springs &#8211; and appears to be the most popular by far.\u00a0 Both pools are open for general swimming and the temperature is about like Pleasant Lake temperatures in June.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond that we went to two state parks &#8211; <a class=\"C8TUKc iSceBiibUOdE-6WH35iSZ2V0 rllt__link\" tabindex=\"0\" role=\"link\" data-rtid=\"iSceBiibUOdE\" data-cid=\"10675804491876762417\" data-ved=\"0ahUKEwi4_MPSyqDaAhUF3IMKHZg6B4QQyTMIMjAA\">Olustee Battlefield <wbr \/>Historic State Park<\/a> and Big Shoals.\u00a0 Without really intending to we walked the 5 miles round trip to the Big Shoals rapids and you could hear them about a mile away and it was worth the walk.\u00a0 Days later we went to Oulstee and walke the 2 mile circuit around the battlefield where there were plackards describing this bloodiest of battles.\u00a0 All-in-all it has been a rewarding and interesting week here in North Central Florida.\u00a0 The weather has finally cooperated with our plans up to now.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Since the last post we have moved the 100 miles or so to White Springs RV Park in White Springs, FL.\u00a0 This little town with little infrastructure to support it is home to the Steven Foster Cultural Museum.\u00a0 That is the first place we went on arrival and have been many places since we rolled [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":[],"categories":[1],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.charleswmoore.org\/wordpress\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3345"}],"collection":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.charleswmoore.org\/wordpress\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.charleswmoore.org\/wordpress\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.charleswmoore.org\/wordpress\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.charleswmoore.org\/wordpress\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=3345"}],"version-history":[{"count":2,"href":"http:\/\/www.charleswmoore.org\/wordpress\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3345\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":3347,"href":"http:\/\/www.charleswmoore.org\/wordpress\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3345\/revisions\/3347"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"http:\/\/www.charleswmoore.org\/wordpress\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=3345"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.charleswmoore.org\/wordpress\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=3345"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"http:\/\/www.charleswmoore.org\/wordpress\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=3345"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
