we include this on our weekly shopping trip and to special events like buying a burn barrel.\u00a0 The result is about 3 -4 shopping size plastic bags that leave the premises each week: That includes glass which the recyclers will not take.\u00a0 We were pretty impressed with this.\u00a0 The burn barrel will &#8220;take it up a notch&#8221;.<\/p>\n<div class=\"zemanta-img zemanta-action-dragged\" style=\"MARGIN: 1em; DISPLAY: block\">\n<div>\n<dl class=\"wp-caption alignleft\" style=\"width: 310px;\">\n<dt class=\"wp-caption-dt\"><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Image:Plastic_food_bags.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Plastic food bags\/pouches\" src=\"http:\/\/upload.wikimedia.org\/wikipedia\/en\/thumb\/2\/28\/Plastic_food_bags.jpg\/300px-Plastic_food_bags.jpg\" alt=\"Plastic food bags\/pouches\" width=\"300\" height=\"235\" \/><\/a><\/dt>\n<dd class=\"wp-caption-dd zemanta-img-attribution\" style=\"FONT-SIZE: 0.8em\">Image via <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Image:Plastic_food_bags.jpg\">Wikipedia<\/a><\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Remember that all the new stuff, like the energy efficient light bulbs, contains mercury and other bad <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Pollution\" rel=\"wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Pollution\">contaminants<\/a>.\u00a0 Recycling those items to the county recycling agent is a special trip and does not figure into our energy equation but we try to do\u00a0these trips in an energy efficient manner.<\/p>\n<p>I have two <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Mercury-vapor lamp\" rel=\"wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mercury-vapor_lamp\">mercury vapor<\/a> bulbs, many <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Nickel-cadmium battery\" rel=\"wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nickel-cadmium_battery\">Ni Cad<\/a> &amp; Lithium batteries that I take to the special place.\u00a0 The new efficient <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Electric light\" rel=\"wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Electric_light\">electric light<\/a> bulbs will take a special place to get rid of them &amp; I cannot understand the government stance on the subject.\u00a0 They list all incandescent bulbs as bad but we have a totally electric heat situation and in the winter any light that is on is 95+% efficient in generating heat.\u00a0 In the summer, we are on <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Daylight saving time\" rel=\"wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Daylight_saving_time\">DST<\/a> so the <a class=\"zem_slink\" title=\"Incandescent light bulb\" rel=\"wikipedia\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Incandescent_light_bulb\">incandescent lights<\/a> generate heat for only a couple of hours at most.\u00a0 Be that as it may, the lights we leave on most of the time are the efficient type that contain mercury and cast a greenish sort of glow ( OK, this is not fair) that makes my skin look jaundice.<\/p>\n<h6 class=\"zemanta-related-title\" style=\"FONT-SIZE: 1em\">CWM perfected &amp;
