{"id":2706,"date":"2017-01-09T13:16:45","date_gmt":"2017-01-09T18:16:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.charleswmoore.org\/wordpress\/?p=2706"},"modified":"2017-01-09T15:26:16","modified_gmt":"2017-01-09T20:26:16","slug":"matthew-59","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.charleswmoore.org\/wordpress\/index.php\/2017\/01\/09\/matthew-59\/","title":{"rendered":"Matthew 5:9"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Matt 5:9 &#8211; Blessed are the peacemakers for they should be called children of God<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Barnes &#8211; Those who strive to prevent contention, strife, and war; who use their influence to reconcile opposing parties, and to prevent lawsuits and hostilities in families and neighborhoods.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>1 Cor 14:33 &#8211; For God is not a God of disorder, but of peace<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><em>Want to be a <strong>Peacemaker?<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n<p>Being a Peacemaker requires a few things<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>AVOID CARELESS CONFRONTATION &#8211;\u00a0Some people just love to make trouble\n<ul>\n<li>we have to learn not to speak unless necessary &#8211; EVEN WHEN WE ARE RIGHT &#8211; not every thing deserves rebuttal or correction\n<ul>\n<li>if we want to be happy we have to learn to master our mouths\u2026<\/li>\n<li>we have to learn to be thoughtful &#8211; what is important? \u00a0what is WORTH my emotion, my words, my actions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>refuse to live in the echo chamber of outrage &#8211; that might mean staying OFF Facebook completely lol<\/li>\n<li>We have to learn to be the bigger person! \u00a0Just because we have been offended does not mean we need to rise to action.<\/li>\n<li>The person we are to make peace with might just be a person who wishes to attack us &#8211; to make peace we must choose not to fight back.\n<ul>\n<li>Luke 6:27-28 <a href=\"http:\/\/biblehub.com\/luke\/6-27.htm\"><strong>27<\/strong><\/a>\u201cBut I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,<a href=\"http:\/\/biblehub.com\/luke\/6-28.htm\"><strong>28<\/strong><\/a>bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/biblehub.com\/luke\/6-29.htm\"><strong>29<\/strong><\/a>To one who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also, and from one who takes away your cloak do not withhold your tunic<em><a href=\"http:\/\/biblehub.com\/esv\/luke\/6.htm#footnotes\">b<\/a><\/em>\u00a0either.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/biblehub.com\/luke\/6-30.htm\"><strong>30<\/strong><\/a>Give to everyone who begs from you, and from one who takes away your goods do not demand them back.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>This is what flows out of a deep rock bottom level of spiritual poverty &#8211; we deserve nothing SO WE DEMAND NOTHING\n<ul>\n<li>It is impossible to argue with someone who only wants what is best for you!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Embrace Loving confrontation\n<ul>\n<li>Confrontation is necessary for a peacemaker &#8211; you cannot make peace by ignoring the truth.<\/li>\n<li>HOWEVER if we confront in an inappropriate way we will NOT be peacemakers either<\/li>\n<li>BEFORE YOU SPEAK ask yourself &#8211;\n<ul>\n<li>Is what I am about to say motivated by my love for this person?<\/li>\n<li>Is what I am about to say worded in the kindest way?<\/li>\n<li>Am I being mindful of my tone, body posture, facial expression?<\/li>\n<li>Is what I am about to say a necessary and helpful statement?<\/li>\n<li>God gave us two ears and one mouth to teach us to listen twice as much as we talk.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Sometimes Peacemaking requires that WE bear the cost of the crimes of others<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>We live this way because Jesus lives this way FOR US\n<ul>\n<li>Give to those that do not deserve it<\/li>\n<li>Pay for the offenses that have been done against us<\/li>\n<li>Jesus made the greatest peace by taking in all our violence and giving us love.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><em><strong>The prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi<\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n<p>Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.<\/p>\n<p>Where there is hatred, let me sow love;<\/p>\n<p>Where there is injury, pardon;<\/p>\n<p>Where there is doubt, faith;<\/p>\n<p>Where there is despair, hope;<\/p>\n<p>Where there is darkness, light;<\/p>\n<p>And where there is sadness, joy,<\/p>\n<p>O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;<\/p>\n<p>to be understood, as to understand; to be loved, as to love.<\/p>\n<p>For it is in giving that we receive; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;<\/p>\n<p>and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.<\/p>\n<p>Amen.<\/p>\n<p>All Quoted from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fremontcommunity.org\/#fcc\">Fremont Community Church<\/a> website<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Now here is another to question: Why are we not more compassionate?
