  • Wednesday 28 February 2018: Elks Burger Night

Posted on February 28th, 2018 cwmoore No comments

Tonight is the Elks Burger night.  We have invited 2 couples to join us tonight, one couple are boating friends and the other RV friends.  Both live in Green Cove Springs and both are enjoyable dinner companions.  Hopefully, tonight will be back to normal ans the burger making last week was a mess and could be likened to crispy burgers extra well done.  I guess that is why I had to go up to get them – twice.

I am starting this morning with some information about Seniors: Have a great morning and a fruitful lunch.  You already know about dinner so  Moore later.

#9 – Death is the number 1 killer in the world.

#8 – Life is sexually transmitted
#7 – Good health is merely the slowest possible rate at which one can die.

#6 – Men have 2 motivations: hunger and hanky-panky, and they can’t tell them apart. If you see a gleam in his eyes, make him a sandwich.

#5 – Give a person a fish and you feed them for a day. Teach a person to use the Internet and they won’t bother you for weeks, months, maybe years.

#4 – Health nuts are going to feel stupid someday, lying in the hospital, dying of nothing.

#3 – All of us could take a lesson from the weather. It pays no attention to criticism.

#2 – In the 60’s, people took LSD to make the world weird. Now the world is weird, and people take Prozac to make it normal.

#1 – Life is like a jar of jalapeno peppers. What you do today may be a burning issue tomorrow.
  • The 2nd Amendment: Framers Intentions

Posted on February 27th, 2018 cwmoore No comments

This is a good article that is easy for the non-lawyers to understand the intent of the 2nd amendment based on supportive documents of the time”

QUOTE:The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution states: “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” The reference to a “well regulated” militia, probably conjures up a connotation at odds with the meaning intended by the Framers. In today’s English, the term “well regulated” probably implies heavy and intense government regulation. However, that conclusion is erroneous………  https://www.lectlaw.com/files/gun01.htm

    ENDQUOTE

I decided to include it here because I thought it well written.

  • Thursday 22 February 2018: Patio Rug Installed

Posted on February 22nd, 2018 cwmoore No comments

Earlier this morning we received a text saying our patio rug was in so we quickly left to pick it up.  We quickly found out that it did not come with hold down stakes so back into town we went.  On return we quickly installed the stakes and now do not need the chairs to hold it down in the light easterly breeze.  I appears we might need another smaller one to act a s a sidewalk from the door to the main patio 9×12 rug.

This evening, as I sit on the new front porch (rug), I am listening to the bagpipes practice for this weekend events.  I must say I love bagpipes and listened to them every Sunday when I worked in Scotland.  Somehow I feel a kinship with the Scots and so, even if I was lonely, I am so glad I was part of their lives for the years that I was in Fife.

I guess I am finished for this blog today so Moore later.

  • 21 February 2018: Busy Place

Posted on February 21st, 2018 cwmoore No comments

Our quiet little RV Park has suddenly become very busy.  This weekend is the Scottish Games here in Clay County Florida and lots of Carny’s in the park. About ten big size 5th wheelers rolled in yesterday afternoon and it is just Tueasdaywith 3 more days to go before the event starts.  They say it will be very busy with more than 25K people attending.

This will be another 83°F day and the RV air conditioner is on already and SAM is under the blanket complaining about the 76°F temperatures being too cold. OK, I did not get this published yesterday so shame on me.

The RV park is busy as ever with new arrivals every hour or so.  Spring feaver has sprung.  My sister is on her way down too but not to our side of the state.  It looks like she is a west coaster.  SAM, Abby and I took a walk tody around the circuit.  We are trying to build up our stamina a bit so we get more exercise.  I used my heavy wood walking stick and about half way I switched hands and I can really tell my right side arms are not as strong as they used to be.  I think it was the pinched nerve of a few years ago that atrophied my right arm a bit.

The through glass VHF antenna arrived today but it has no instructions so I emailed the factory.  Some place I read that you should not mount it on tinted glass of any kind.  Also, since it is mounted vertically on my vertical side window I think it will bang against the RV.  Maybe I can tilt it out a bit so this does not happen.

  • Sunday 18 February 2018: Washed car

Posted on February 18th, 2018 cwmoore No comments

We went to First Assembly church this morning and the service was very good.  It was on miracles both biblical and first hand experiences. What can you say?  I have witnessed a few in my life and expect a few more.  It was a happy morning and spirit filled.

We drove home and had lunch and then took a nap.  I was the first to arise and started thinking we should wash the car and that is what we did.  The car has been covered with this yellow pollen dust day after day and it is sticky.  The birds have use us for target practice too.  Now it looks good again after a couple of months.

We are expecting temperatures in the 80’s all week and this weekend is the Scottish Games at the fair grounds and it is a big deal. As for us, no one goes in or out of the RV Park all day Saturday.  We will have to park somewhere else if we want to go into town. We are expecting a big influx of campers and traffic through the RV Park.

  • Saturday 17 February 2018: Clear Sunny 72°

There is another horse event over at the fair grounds and we can hear the announcer.  The sun is hot and I just put down the awnings to reduce the heat on one side of the RV.  The windows are open and the breeze is just right.  Later on I will start the airconditioner since we have a lunch date with some new friends in Green Cove Springs who want to be RV’ers.  They picked the place called Mackeys Munchies and we have to be there at 1330 hrs.  The place offers Cajun style food.  There will be more later as the day develops.

  • Epidemic of cancer

Posted on February 15th, 2018 cwmoore No comments

A close friend of mind just let me know he has an undiagnosed lymphatic or leukemia cancer.  I was praying otherwise but here it was in an email I read this afternoon.  I am not ready to abandon him to the vulgarities of the USA medical system, of whom I am skeptical, since I have lost two dear and close people to me in the last two years.  If you add up the ten year past I have lost more, I remember Kamu Hosey and others.  Why is this happening?

There is a new, un-yet proven treatment with T Cells and there are several DNS modification treatment that I do not know the details of but these give me hope for Z.  This is just a blog for today.

    • Concern yourself with what is right rather than who is right.
    • Never forget that, no matter how certain, you might be wrong.
    • Give up blood sports.
    • Remember that your life belongs to others as well. Don’t risk it frivolously.
    • Never lie to anyone for any reason. (Lies of omission are sometimes exempt.)
    • Learn the needs of those around you and respect them.
    • Avoid the pursuit of happiness. Seek to define your mission and pursue that.
    • Reduce your use of the first personal pronoun.
    • Praise at least as often as you disparage.
    • Admit your errors freely and soon.
    • Become less suspicious of joy.

  • Monday 12 February 2018: St Augustine

I spent most of this quality day at malls.  SAM wanted to go and I said yes.  Maybe a mistake and 5 hours later we were finished and got back to the RV’s HQ.  I learned several things.

Earlier, six RV’s left the park.  Wow, we are deserted and it is open to new users.  We have another month of learning new things before we head back north.

  • Saturday 10 February: No Hamcation this year

Posted on February 10th, 2018 cwmoore No comments

It is official, there will be no Hamcation in Orlando for SAM n I.  I took a shower, went to bed and 11 and allready to get up at 0630 and head to Orlando (a 2.5 hr drive).  Well, I woke up at 0300 and could not get back to sleep and I was having some complications from the UTI so at 0600 I decided not to go this year.  The main reason I was going was to see the 9050 crew at the “block house” and since I would be driving for 6 hours for a 3 hour stint at the show I just gave up and went back to sleep until 0900.

In previous days we were not too active and more or less just stayed around the RV.  I did not have too much extra energy and did not feel good Thursday.  On Friday I passed the stone so I took i into the doctors office for analysis and we returned some items to Lowes that we did not use for the shower repair.  After that SAM wanted to go to Aldi’s for some ribs  that she saw on sale.  On the way home we stopped at a couple of garage sales but saw nothing to buy.  That ended another boring day.
