WordPress 2.9.1
Posted on January 7th, 2010 No commentsThis was an all day event: Trying to “automatic” upgrade to WP 2.9.1.
Every time I tried I received a database error because the new 2.9.1 requires a My SQL 4.1.2 or higher database. I tried a few work arounds but nothing worked too well. Both of the blogs are hosted on GoDaddy machines. Since I did not know where the blogs server was I backed up the blogs and emailed them to myself. After that I generated two MySQL databases, one for each blog, and then “imported” the backup I had just emailed to myself. It is a bit tricky importing the backup files but it pretty easy with GoDaddy. Using the database Host/User data I then modified the WP wp-config.php files and uploaded them to the host servers. Bingo – everything worked AOK and then I updated WP to 2.9.1. Finished for today! -
Working Hard
Posted on January 6th, 2010 No commentsI have had almost a full time job working on the church website. I spent the morning trying to figure out what went wrong with the church email system. The domain name provider says NOT ME and the host says NOT ME. I am slanting towards the domain name provider but since the old host is the domain name provider it could be them too
Here is what happened. A couple of weeks ago we transfered the all the old hosted information from one server to another within the company. This was done because, for some unknown reason, we could no longer access the old hosting account. After the switch the troubles started. I pushed to have an internal review of the situation and they agreed – so now we wait.

Atta boy Charlie
Posted on January 1st, 2010 No commentsAfter 2 months of slow but steady progress I finally finished the sailboat companionway doors. Here are the stats: Sanded several times with progressively increased grit size, 5 coats of Cetol Light and one coat Cetol Gloss. Also, new stainless steel screws for the hardware. It looks good if I do say so myself. I received no help from the First Mate either and did the whole job myself.

Christmas Party 2009
Posted on December 30th, 2009 No commentsThe AOG Christmas Service this year featured youths from 4 – 12 grades. These pictures were put here and are rotated by JW Image Roatator. I will get back to add some more pictures later. New Year’s Eve tomorrow! Brandon was home from the Air Force and attended the services.

Snow today
Posted on December 28th, 2009 No commentsThere was more snow today. I was scheduled to do the snowplowing out at the airport today – Monday is always my day in the winter. I called early and the Airport Manager said the snow was being blown clear of the taxi and runways plus the West side of the hangars was clear and the East side only had a couple of inches. After a discussion he said snowblowing was not necessary today so Walt here is to you tomorrow – with a hope that the wind is down and the snow stops tonight.
No websites to work on today so I was more than a little bored. I did manage to get the 5th coat of Cetol on the sailboat doors. Maybe I can get the coat of Cetol Gloss on tomorrow and they will be finished. Yea!!! This is the only varnishing worked scheduled for this winter. Now I have to check on the price of VC17 for the bottom of the boat.

In the Beginning
Posted on December 22nd, 2009 No commentsMellow Dude: In the beginning, there was nothing more than I wanted than to have a web presence. So, I generated a Linux server via Apache and suffered numerous insults but finally got a site up and running. The site borrowed from a collage of various scripts, html but a lot of Perl Freeware. With much trials and tribulation a site resulted that had home made buttons, really garish colors, extremely poor code and a lot of high resolution pictures of aircraft.
Aircraft being my particular passion at the time, this was and still is the basis for the site – Try http://www.virtualmoore.com for a complete version of the first try scenerio.
Later, I actually understood what HTML actually was and could manipulate it with more or less impunity buy I never learned to spell.
Much later, I am a Webmaster and a web designer and developer. Now I, more or less, understand the process. However, my peer group does not comprehend the least little thing about what I am talking about now.
In the las two weeks, I have generated two websites. I acutally typed in the content and did all the URL, Name Server and Re-direction things necessary to bring to life a website that is viable. Man, I feel good.
