New Used Computer Arrives
Posted on April 6th, 2009 No commentsThe Dell GX280 that I bought on the internet arrived today and I am setting it up. I was surprised to find it came with the full suite of Outlook 2007 and a backed up clone drive. It was well worth my $155 investment. I am not sure if I want to sell it or not. For example, I could sell my GX270 but I like it and it would take days of hard work to transfer everything to the new GX280 machine. I could also clone my GX270 as a spare or server but I need to buy a 259 Gig or larger HD. I saw a 1.4 TB drive for sale on eCost.com for $114 – that is pretty cheap. What to do.
BTW-I found a real nice Logitech optical mouse at Walmart for only $13. It works real well.

Upgrade of Blog
Posted on April 5th, 2009 No commentsSaturday was the day to upgrade the blog to the latest stable version of WordPress. The upgrade went smoothly for all my blog sites. There was one unusual event but that was easily overcome. One site required a manual install of the new plugins because evidently the rights to modify a site are not given by windows server.

Indiana DNR: Fish-For-Life
Posted on March 31st, 2009 No commentsIndiana was plugging the Fish-For-Life license. OK, I ordered it online and printed a few copies out. Now you must understand that a person must be at least 64 years of age to qualify. The normal fee is $3/year so dividing 17/3=5.667 years. The State of Indiana must figure that I will not be around to use this license after age 70 or else it would not want to sell these lifetime things. Maybe it is that they want the cash right now and will worry about the consequences later. However, I really think it is just another conspiracy to relieve us Boomers from our cash. With the socialized medicine they will just be able to pull our plug whenever they want to so why worry about using the license for a long time. I wish they would do this for hunting licenses such as deer tags as I will take my chances – I have a plan.

Cloward-Piven Strategy: Heard of it?
Posted on March 31st, 2009 No commentsYou had better listen up and find out a little more about Cloward-Piven Strategy. It proved its effectiveness in the 1970’s. I think it is action again and on a national scale. The one premise that makes it effective is surprise: The Cloward-Piven strategy depends on surprise. So be forewarned and forearmed be aware of right or left political events that could make use of the Cloward-Piven strategy. Below is a link for more information and worth the 5 minute read.

Bakken & other Formations: 2 Trillion barrels oil
Posted on March 30th, 2009 No commentsHow do you like the idea of paying $4/gal of gasoline? How do you like the idea of importing $700 billion of oil from unfriendly governments? The question is this considered public domain oil or is it being saved for national defense purposes?
James Bartis, lead researcher with the study says we’ve got more oil in this very compact area than the entire Middle East -more than 2 TRILLION barrels untapped.
North Dakota and Montana have an estimated 3.0 to 4.3 billion barrels of undiscovered, technically recoverable oil in an area known as the Bakken Formation. A U.S. Geological Survey assessment, released April 10, shows a 25-fold increase in the amount of oil that can be recovered compared to the agency’s 1995 estimate of 151 million barrels of oil.
Technically recoverable oil resources are those producible using currently available technology and industry practices. USGS is the only provider of publicly available estimates of undiscovered technically recoverable oil and gas resources.

The Quiet Coup
Posted on March 30th, 2009 No commentsYou have to read this article from The Atlantic. I was floored but not surprised. There it is in actual print – the blueprint of the demise of the United States middle class. Like the book “Screwed” by Thom Hartmann it lays out the blueprint for the killing of the Boomers and robbing them of the accumulated wealth. If you do not believe either article, you are at that -180 ° position I wrote about a few weeks ago and I would not have anything to say that would help.

Book: Number 1 Ladies Detective Agency
Posted on March 28th, 2009 No comments[slideshow=11]
I listened to this book on audio tape over a period of a few days last fall on the boat. At first I was not interested but then I was slowly drawen into the book. It is about an African detective agency owned and run by a lady. It is a simple book about simple emotions from a matriarchal perspective. It is worth listening to on tape as the characters are portrayed well by the audio reader.

LTE:How Do We Reduce Our Dependency on Foreign Oil?

QUOTEHow Do We Reduce Our Dependency on Foreign Oil?
T. Boone Pickens is a man with a plan. A Texas Billionaire, Oilman, Philanthropist and Supporter of Energy Independence for America who is heavily invested in Wind and Solar Energy, Natural Gas, and is the founder of the Pickens Plan (www.pickensplan.com).
The Pickens Plan is a grass roots organization with the goal of ending America’s dependence on foreign oil and supports the new Energy Plan currently in the works in Washington. The Unites States imports $500 – 700 Billion each year and a very large percentage of that oil is from countries hostile to the United States of America. This is a matter of our national security.
We can end our dependence on foreign oil by driving Hybrid and Plug-In vehicles, using Compressed Natural Gas (CNG & LNG) for commercial vehicles, heat our homes using Geo-Thermal, Solar and Wind energy and by supporting the new Energy Plan that will be sent to Congress for a vote next month. The Energy Plan, according to the White House, will reduce our dependence on foreign oil and help to create five million jobs by investing $150 billion over the next ten years to catalyze private efforts to build a clean energy future, put 1 million Plug-in hybrid cars (which the White House will work to make certain they are built in America) on the road by 2015 and weatherize a million homes annually, which in turn benefits the Northland with Mining, Shipping, Manufacturing, Construction and Support Services.
I support the Pickens Plan for energy independence and urge you to do the same. The time is now to break our dependency on foreign oil and develop our own sources of clean, renewable energy across America, right here in Duluth and throughout the Northland. On April 1st-3rd join the virtual march on Washington and call or email our Representatives, Senators and the Whitehouse and make it known that we are ready to become energy independent. Please join us at www.pickensplan.com. The time to act is NOW.
