This is an article I want to record here on my blog. I would venture to say that most of my readers would not be interested but my son may be so here it is recorded.

No GPS? No problem! Using GPSDirect to develop location-aware apps (Part 1)

In an earlier blog post titled “Develop location-aware, Metro style apps when your development system doesn’t have GPS“, one option I presented for those wishing to develop high-precision location-based Windows Store apps is to hook up an external GPS to your computer. What I want to do now is explore this method in greater detail, and I’m creating a three-part series on doing so with a software application called GPSDirect from TurboIRC.COM Software & Research. In part one, we’ll introduce the GPSDirect sensor driver and learn how to use it. In parts two and three, we’ll look at connecting an external GPS recevier and an Android-based smart phone as a GPS provider.

    Part 1. Introducing GPSDirect

Part 2. Using an external, handheld GPS.

Part 3. Using an Android smartphone as a GPS receiver

As a result of a Facebook comment this morning I have been thinking more about his Capitalism vs Socialism analogy: basically, Capitalism is good and Socialism is jamming “whatever” down the throats of unwilling constituents. A shortsighted, false view in my opinion.

Later in the morning, I came across this study conducted in Finland and it grabbed my attention because of the mornings response I made to the post on Facebook to which I referred above. I will present some data below that may stimulate an interest.

The link to the Finnish social experiment study is here. I do not know how long the link will last but I would almost bet this site will last longer than the link. Therefore, I will add some of the text in the block below.

“Finland basic income trial left people ‘happier but jobless’: This is seen as increasingly important in the age of automation – that is, put very simply, as robots take people’s jobs.”

I thought this was funny and I hope you do too; however, if I have offended a Brother please forgive me.

So,the more orange the more crossings. Black is a fence and red is the crossings of that fence by pedestrians

The first iteration of current fencing along the U.S.-Mexico took place during the 1990s where the administrations of Presidents George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton authorized the construction of fencing along the California-Mexico border. Then, in 2006, President George W. Bush expanded the border fence by signing the Secure Fence Act into law, which authorized the construction of a fence along 700 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border. U.S. Border Patrol took just over 400,000 people illegally entering the United States into custody in 2018, down from the second-high of 1.67 million in 2000. So this is the end of this blog issue. There is tons of stuff out there if you decide you really are interested. This is only an exciter.

Illustration of Trump in a tower

The picture is from The New Yorker Daily 2.3.2019. I thought this pretty much sums up where we are today. I heard a guy the other day say “trump gets things done”. He did not pass any judgement, yea or nay, but was stating a matter of fact from his point of view: This took place in Livingston, TX. I guess he does get things done in his isolated, confrontational, divisional, mediocre sort of way. What does he get done? Well, I guess that sort of depends on who you are talking to. Of course, this is all hearsay, since no one can believe anything the media presents these days. I guess I do not care anymore since I am in media override and I know, in general, what I believe and so I have become an island unto itself. I guess that makes me as bad as any politician I could name.
