Apathy

Time can pass slowly on a small boat resting at a slip.  In my case, time has passed rapidly.  Temperatures turned from 50′s to 80′s over night for several days.  We bought a window  air conditioner  from Best Buy and just sort of set it up in the companionway.  The 5000 BTU’s struggle to remove excess heat that has built up over the morning and afternoon.  By dark the exterior air at around 90 degrees was reduced to mid 70′s with a lot less humidity.

Last night we removed the unit and slept comfortably at ambient temperature.  Today is windy and cool.  We were going to go out but a voluntary crew member backed out and we did not feel comfortable trying to get away from and return to the dock in the higher winds – so we did not go.  Maybe tomorrow before the winds pick up we will get away from the docks for the first time in our boat.
