  • Our Constitution

It used to be as a conservative guy the US Constitution was one step below the Bible. Over the years, I have drifted slowly leftward to the center of the political spectrum and am, more or less, an Independent. I still believe the same about our Constitution.

Recently, I have notice the Republicans appear to have switched 180° on The Constitution. Back when I was in the R’s camp, we would hand out the little tracts on “We the People….”. Now, it seems our leaders have switched their views and allow and support trampling on it if it does not suit their immediate needs. How can any self respecting R support anyone who does this?

The emoluments clause of the Constitution is, it should be pointed out, not “phony.” It exists. It is known as Article I, Section 9, Clause 8: “[N]o person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.”
